Poetry Jam
This morning I attended a session about Rocky Horror Picture Show and another about a school that maintains a successful poetry slam. Sounds fun.

Li-Young Lee is an amazing poet.
I am in St. Louis at the International English Honor Society Conference. Yesterday I heard him perform six pieces of poetry. http://www.blueflowersarts.com/li-young-lee
I spent most of last evening reviewing Parker Palmer's The Passionate Teacher for the conference session I am co-leading with John Kerrigan from Rockhurst University. I've been preparing topics and questions for the panel.
Tonight is a speech by Chris Abani who is the author of the famous Song for Night, a novella about Nigerian child soldiers.

Timed writing.
Notes from Murf's grading last night:
Start The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
Notes from Murf's grading last night:
- Although it took too much of Murf's time at home, he liked reading your Js last night. Many of you made me laugh.
- Write the date at the beginning of your entry for the day.
- Make sure you write in your J every day in class. It is proof of your attendance.
- Also write titles and authors.
- Add your own editorial comments.
- Continue to be creative. Say something ridiculous, deep, or crazy.
